Fundamentals of Computer & Digital Literacy (FCDL-1025)

This course is a 3-month fully online program designed to equip absolute beginners especially staff and elderly learners with essential computer skills. The course emphasizes hands-on learning and practical application, preparing learners to use computers confidently in work and daily life.

This course is divided into three modules:

  • Computer and Windows Basics
  • Office Productivity Essentials
  • Online Communication and Collaboration

Each module spans four weeks, with weekly topics, practical activities, and an end-of-module exam. By the end of the course, learners will be able to operate a computer, use office software, and navigate the internet safely.

Duration: 4 Weeks

Objectives

  • Understand basic computer components and functions
  • Navigate and customize the Windows operating system
  • Manage files and folders
  • Learn basic safety and maintenance practices

Week 1: Introduction to Computers

  • What is a computer? Types and uses (desktop, laptop, tablet)
  • Basic hardware components (CPU, RAM, storage)

Week 2: Understanding Operating Systems

  • Role of operating systems (focus on Windows)
  • Navigating Windows: desktop, taskbar, Start menu

Week 3: File Management and Personalization

  • Creating and organizing files/folders
  • Personalizing desktop settings (themes, display, user accounts)

Week 4: Safe Use and Maintenance

  • Antivirus and Windows updates
  • Introduction to email and safe browsing

Duration: 4 Weeks

  • Create and format basic documents using word processing software
  • Understand spreadsheet basics including data entry and formatting
  • Design simple presentations with key content elements
  • Practice saving, sharing, and printing various document types

Week 5: Word Processing

  • Creating and formatting documents using MS Word or Google Docs

Week 6: Spreadsheets

  • Basic data entry and formatting in Excel or Google Sheets

Week 7: Presentations

  • Designing simple slides with PowerPoint or Google Slides

Week 8: Review and Hands-On Practice

  • Combine Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for real-world tasks
  • Saving, sharing, and printing documents

Week 11: Cloud Storage & Collaboration

  • Google Drive and OneDrive for storing and sharing files
  • Collaborating on documents in real time

Week 12: Internet Safety & Final Review

  • Safe browsing habits and phishing awareness
  • Final practical tasks and course recap

Program Payment Structure & Access Policy

To ensure flexibility and affordability, our academy offers a structured payment plan that allows learners to pay in installments while maintaining accountability and commitment to their learning journey.

Module Access Policy

Module Access Condition
Module 1 Access after payment of ₦10,500.00 (50% of program fee)
Module 2 Requires additional ₦5,250.00 (total 75% (₦15,750.00) payment must be complete)
Module 3 Requires additional ₦5,250.00 to make it full payment of ₦21,000.00 (100% payment must be completed)

Learners may choose to pay the full ₦21,000.00 upfront for complete access.


Important Notes

  • Access to each module is conditional on payment milestones.
  • The platform will automatically restrict access to unpaid modules.
  • No learner will proceed to Module 2 or beyond unless they have fulfilled the required payment percentage.
  • Learners who complete full payment will receive unrestricted access to all modules and the final certification.

How to Make Payment

  1. Log into your dashboard
  2. Navigate to Billing/Payment
  3. Select the installment you want to pay
  4. Choose your payment method (Card/Transfe/Wallet)
  5. Confirm and proceed. Your module will unlock once payment is verified.
